Background/History:
Dewayne’s father was a cop and he grew up planning to be a policeman. He
excelled at all the necessary skills and was an excellent marksman. He never
seemed to have to work very hard at anything and he was always very lucky. His
ego was his only negative. He knew how good he was and everyone else should know
as well. One night, his father did not come home and they got the terrible news
that he had been killed making an arrest. Dewayne was beside himself with grief
and anger. How could his father who had been so good be taken from him that way?
His uncle moved in and helped his mom get by. His uncle never worked and always
had money, but he made Dewayne promise not to let his sister know that. He
taught Dewayne how to play cards and cheat to win. Their favorite game was
blackjack. His uncle used Dewayne’s grief to twist him away from the path his
father had taken and toward the life of crime that he secretly perused. Still
going to the Police Academy, Dewayne intended to find ways to make it work for
him by learning all of the procedures, so he could beat the system. Then, a
special battle suit that had been designed to fight super criminals was to be
tested and volunteers were needed to undergo rigorous testing and training.
Dewayne took the tests, became the number one student, and, as soon as he had
mastered it, stole the suit. As a mercenary, he would steal or assassinate for a
fee, until he got a better offer from Shatter and joined the Attackers.
Personality/Motivations:
Cocky, arrogant, and angry, he used his father’s death as an excuse to make
sure he did not waste his life as his father had, helping people who did not
deserve it. His bitterness faded as he realized he liked doing whatever he
wanted to and stays with the Attackers as a way of guaranteeing that he stays
that way.
