Background/History:
Edward Groves was a mutant with the ability to project weak hypersonic waves.
The ability was only powerful enough to silently break glass, but being the
black sheep of his family, he found a use for it. He became a thief. After a few
years of being relatively successful in his criminal exploits, the creature
known as Gremlin appeared and proceeded to destroy Edward’s universe, quite
literally. Gremlin scouted ahead and saw the next reality he planned to destroy
had many superheroes. High on the list was Sound Wave, so Gremlin sought a
weapon to use against him and found Edward with his insignificant power seeking
any possible way to survive. He offered Edward power in exchange for his life
and his obedience. Edward accepted and watched his entire reality crumble. He
took the name Saser and used his amplified powers against the heroes defending
against Gremlin. He was just meant to be a diversion and mattered little. Once
Gremlin was defeated, he drew all the power he could to flee, including that
which he had given Saser and abandoned him. Saser’s only advantage was that the
trim on his costume was really gold and he used that to buy an identity in this
alternate reality he was stuck in. He went back to a life of crime and
eventually heard about Professor Moriarty. He set up a meeting and she created a
battlesuit that amplified his natural abilities to superhuman levels again. He
became another member of her Alliance and generally keeps a low profile, content
to do a few jobs here and there and avoid superheroes.
Personality/Motivations:
His fear of dying enabled him to join up with the creature who devoured his
entire galaxy. He feels no guilt because he only did what he felt he must do to
survive and that’s how he lives his life. He steals or works for hire to
survive. His middle class parents worked hard and, in his eyes, had nothing, so
he decided to take the easy route.
